GrooVex Golf was born from a necessity faced by many golfers, including myself, struggling with the transition to new clubs. After using my Vokey SM6 wedges for over seven years, their worn grooves led to decreased performance. Finding no adequate products for groove restoration, I developed the GrooVex tool to rejuvenate old clubs to their original glory, inspired by tour players who replace their wedges frequently due to wear. This tool allows golfers to maintain optimal performance without the need for frequent, costly replacements, ensuring their favorite clubs can continue to deliver top results.

The Problem: Worn-Out Grooves, Fading Confidence

As my wedges aged, I noticed that my “security blankets”—the clubs I could always count on—were no longer performing like they used to. The grooves were worn, and the spin rates had decreased significantly. This change affected my confidence in the course, as I could no longer rely on my clubs to execute the precise shots I had mastered over the years. I needed a solution that would allow me to keep my trusted clubs in the bag and restore their original performance.

A Solution Born from Precision and Expertise

Leveraging my background in high-precision measurement with Mitutoyo and my experience in metalworking with Sandvik Machining Solutions, I set out to create a tool that could restore the grooves of my clubs to their original, conforming specifications. After only a few precise passes with my newly designed tool, I saw an immediate difference in the grooves. I then tested my clubs on a GC-Quad and observed a significant increase in spin rates. The real test, however, was on the course. To my delight, all my favorite shots—the full-send zippers, the one-hop-and-stop shots, and the flighted two-hop-checkers—were back. GrooVex turned my desperation into elation!
